Our Story
Under new ownership, with a different idea of what a pharmacy is for
St Matthew's Pharmacy is a new independent pharmacy. We took over the premises on Malabar Road because we think this community deserves a pharmacy that does more than count tablets and hand over a bag.
Being independent is the whole point. There's no head office deciding how many minutes we're allowed to spend with you, and no regional targets shaping what we recommend. If someone needs twenty minutes explaining their inhaler, they get twenty minutes.
Community pharmacy has changed a lot. We can treat infections, run a travel clinic, check your blood pressure and start you on contraception — things that used to mean waiting weeks for a GP. Most people have no idea. Part of our job is making sure this neighbourhood knows what's now available on its doorstep.

Time for people
No appointment needed to ask a question. If you're worried about something, come and ask — that conversation is free and it always will be.
Straight answers
If you don't need a product, we'll say so. If you need a GP rather than us, we'll tell you that too. We'd rather lose a sale than sell you something pointless.
Part of the community
Our team speaks the languages this neighbourhood speaks. You shouldn't have to bring your child along to translate a conversation about your own health.
Regulation
Registered, contracted and accountable
Every pharmacy in Great Britain has to be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and every pharmacist in the building is individually registered too. You can look any of us up on the GPhC register — the details are in the footer of every page on this site.
We're also an NHS contracted pharmacy, which means we're commissioned to dispense NHS prescriptions and deliver advanced services like Pharmacy First and the New Medicine Service.
