Prescriptions

Nominate us once and your NHS prescriptions come to us automatically — no paper, no queueing at the surgery. Then we'll get them to you, free, wherever you are locally.

EPS Nomination

Nominate us as your pharmacy

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) sends your prescription straight from your GP to whichever pharmacy you've nominated. It's the NHS default now, and it means no paper slip to lose and nothing to hand in.

Fill in the form and we'll set the nomination up for you — it takes about a minute, you only ever do it once, and you can change it whenever you like. It doesn't lock you in, and you can still use any other pharmacy any time you want.

Prefer to do it another way?

1

Just tell us

Pop in or call and we'll set the nomination up for you on the spot. Easiest option by a mile.

2

Tell your GP surgery

Ask reception to nominate St Matthew's Pharmacy, 44 Malabar Road. They can do it while you're on the phone.

3

Use the NHS App

Open the NHS App, go to your prescriptions, and choose a nominated pharmacy. Search for us by postcode LE1 2PD.

Nomination form

Complete this and we'll do the rest. All fields are required unless marked optional.

This form is for patients aged 18 and over. If you're arranging a nomination for a child, please call us on 0116 360 2000 and we'll set it up with you.

You must be 18 or over to nominate online.

We use these details only to set up your nomination and to contact you about it. See our Privacy Policy. If you'd rather not send your details online, call us on 0116 360 2000.

Repeat prescriptions

Repeat Prescriptions

Repeats, handled

If you take the same medicines every month, you shouldn't have to think about it. Once you've nominated us, we can manage the whole repeat cycle: we'll order from your surgery, chase them if they're slow, and let you know the moment it's ready.

We'll also keep an eye on the things that get missed — a review that's overdue, an item that's quietly dropped off your list, a medicine that's about to run out while you're away. That's the part a chain won't do for you.

  • We order your repeats from the surgery for you
  • A text or call when your prescription is ready
  • We'll flag overdue medication reviews before they bite
  • Holiday supplies sorted in advance — just give us notice

Free Service

Free collection & delivery

We collect your prescription from your GP surgery and deliver it to your door. It's free, it's local, and there's no minimum order or subscription attached to it.

It's there for anyone, but it makes the biggest difference if you're housebound, caring for someone, working hours that don't line up with ours, or just without an easy way to get to Malabar Road. If that's you, call us and we'll set it up.

Genuinely free

No delivery charge, no minimum spend, no membership. You'll still pay the standard NHS prescription charge if you're not exempt — that's it.

Questions

Common questions

Not at all. You can change your nomination whenever you like, and you can still walk into any other pharmacy in the country with a prescription. Nomination just tells the NHS where to send your electronic prescriptions by default.

Most are ready the same day, and often within a couple of hours of the surgery sending it over. If we need to order something in it can take an extra day or two — we'll tell you as soon as we know rather than leave you guessing.

St Matthews and the surrounding Leicester areas. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just call — we'd rather say yes than have you go without.

That depends on whether you're exempt. Under 16, over 60, pregnant, on certain benefits, or holding a medical exemption certificate all mean free prescriptions. If you pay for several items a month, ask us about a prepayment certificate — it often works out much cheaper.

Some, but the rules are tighter and someone has to sign for them in person. Give us a call and we'll talk through what's possible for your particular medicine.
