What is medical weight management?
Medical weight management is a clinician-led approach to losing weight, where a healthcare professional assesses your health, agrees a realistic plan with you and — where it is appropriate — prescribes a licensed medicine to support your efforts. It is not a diet product bought off a shelf, and it is not a quick fix. It is a structured programme with proper assessment and follow-up.
Over-the-counter diet aids (such as fat binders or appetite suppressants sold without a prescription) work in limited ways and are not individually assessed for you. A prescription GLP-1 medication like Mounjaro works differently: it acts on the appetite-regulating signals in the body to help you feel fuller and eat less. Because it is a prescription-only medicine, it can only be supplied after a consultation and where a pharmacist judges it clinically suitable for you.
Our medical weight management service in Leicester is led by a GPhC-registered pharmacist. Medication, when used, is always one part of a wider plan built around diet, physical activity and lasting habit change — never a replacement for them.
Treatment options
Medications we offer
Mounjaro is a prescription-only GLP-1 medicine, offered only after a consultation and where clinically appropriate.
Mounjaro Tirzepatide
What it is: a once-weekly injection containing tirzepatide, a prescription-only medicine licensed for weight management in eligible adults.
How it works: it acts on two natural gut hormone receptors (GIP and GLP-1) that influence appetite, helping you feel fuller for longer and eat less.
Typical results: when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, it may help support weight loss. Results vary from person to person, and a consultation is needed to see whether it is right for you.
Common side effects: nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, indigestion and tiredness, which often ease as your body adjusts. We start at a low dose and increase gradually, and the pharmacist will talk you through these before you start.
Prescription-only medicines
Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine. It is not suitable for everyone and is only supplied after a consultation, and only where the pharmacist judges treatment to be clinically appropriate for you.

No hidden fees · cancel anytime
Prices are per month and are subject to change depending on manufacturer pricing — we keep them as low as possible. There are no hidden fees and you can cancel at any time. Your dose is started low and increased gradually, and the pharmacist will confirm what's right for you.
What to expect during treatment
Weight loss with these medicines is gradual, not sudden. Most people who respond notice changes over the course of around three to six months, with the dose increased slowly over that time. Everyone is different, and the pace and amount of weight change varies from person to person.
Lifestyle changes matter. The medicine supports your efforts — it does not do the work on its own. Eating well, moving more and building sustainable habits are what make the results last, which is why our programme includes ongoing support rather than just a prescription.
Managing side effects. Side effects such as nausea are most common in the early weeks and usually ease as your body adjusts. Starting low and increasing the dose gradually helps. We'll give you practical advice on managing them and review how you're getting on at each check-in.
When to contact us. Contact the pharmacist if side effects are severe or persistent, if you feel unwell, or if you have any questions about your treatment. In a medical emergency, always call 999.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
It varies from person to person, so we can't promise a specific figure. Used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity, these medicines may help support weight loss. The pharmacist will talk through what's realistic for you at your consultation.
NHS weight management services and specialist prescribing have their own eligibility criteria and often long waiting lists. Our private service lets suitable adults start sooner, with a local pharmacist and ongoing monthly support. If an NHS route is more appropriate for you, we'll tell you honestly.
Yes. You're never tied in and can stop or cancel at any time. It's best to speak to the pharmacist first so we can advise you and support you as you come off treatment.
Like all medicines, these can cause side effects. The most common are digestive — nausea, diarrhoea or constipation — especially early on, and they usually ease with time. The pharmacist will go through the full list with you and how to manage them.
No referral is needed. You can book a consultation directly with us. With your consent we may share information with your GP, which is good practice for your overall care.
Often yes, but it depends on what you take. Reviewing your current medicines is a key part of the suitability check, so please bring a list to your consultation. The pharmacist will flag anything that needs care.
If a medicine doesn't agree with you, we'll review it at your check-in and adjust the dose, switch approach or stop treatment as appropriate. Your safety comes first, and support is included throughout.
Yes. You can collect from the pharmacy or have your medication delivered, with same-day delivery available across Leicester.
